Gary wants gun-toting criminals to be given longer sentences

The Police Commissioner is not satisfied with the sentences imposed on persons with the intent to kill.

His concern comes in the wake of a man being given 18 months hard labour for firearm possession, and nine months for ammo possession.

He says 83 per cent of this country’s murders is due to illegal firearms, therefore this person will be out on the street again in just over a year is not good enough.

He believes the Judiciary has to play its role in reflecting the intentions of Parliament and the concerns to all our law-abiding citizens.
