From tomorrow, the walk-in vaccination system will operate using surnames in alphabetical order and for persons over 60 only.

This was announced by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh who acknowledged that the start of walk-ins for first-dose Sinopharm today saw high numbers which caused issues.

One problem he claims was experienced today is that persons who were not eligible visited the sites to be vaccinated.

As such, sites will start with using surnames beginning with letters A to E and continue Friday with F to J while only persons over 60 years old will be facilitated.

Mr Deyalsingh says officials will monitor tomorrow’s roll out especially as it relates to persons with common surnames to mitigate against today’s issues.

The decision to end the appointment system was taken to assist the elderly who could not use technology to book their vaccination.
