Former Health Minister raises concerns over transfer of doctors

A former Health Minister is the latest to raise concerns about the transfer/reassignment of four senior doctors out of the Couva Hospital.

Recently the NCRHA said it followed a recommendation from the Medical Chief of Staff, Dr Don Martin, who has denied the claim.

In a statement today, former minister Dr Fuad Khan believes this move threatens the quality of care at the facility and the parallel healthcare system.

He says the NCRHA could have instead added staff to allow proper rotation within the hospital.

Dr Khan’s statement follows calls by the UNC for questions surrounding the decision.
