Former Chief Fire Officer Roosevelt Bruce will chair a committee tasked with looking into the circumstances and facts surrounding the fire which killed MP Lisa Morris-Julian and her two children.
National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds made the announcement today, noting conflicting issues and stories in the fire’s aftermath.
He also explained that part of the mandate of the three-person committee is to look into circumstances on the day of the fire.
The mandate also asks the committee to look into two fire stations which were said to be engaged in other fires on the day.
Mr Hinds was asked about public opinion that this matter is only being probed in this manner because an MP was involved.
The committee, which also comprises of OSHA Chairman Curt Cadet and attorney Ashti Mahabir of the Attorney General’s Office, has been asked to report back in two weeks.
