An environmental group is worried about the possibility of oil contamination in the Gulf of Paria.
In a release sent this afternoon, Fishermen and Friends of the Sea Corporate Secretary Gary Aboud says some fishermen went out, between one and two miles off shore Carli Bay on Saturday night.
He claims that on Sunday morning when they returned ashore both the nets and vessels they used to fish were covered in oil.
Mr Aboud is concerned that either a spill that occurred last week is still affecting the Gulf or that a new spill has sprouted.
He wants Government intervention in the matter warning that this could spell disaster for that body of water.
