Virtual Schools’ Chutney Soca Monarch being considered for 2021

Consideration is being given to hosting the 2021 Schools’ Chutney Soca Monarch virtually.

This is according to President of the National Chutney Foundation, Dr Vijay Ramlal-Rai, speaking at a prize giving ceremony today.

He notes that a virtual competition will ensure adherence to the new normal brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In February this year, Avindha Singh and Paris Coutain were named the Primary and Secondary School monarchs.

The competition began in 2012 and competing students must ensure that their songs have positive, developmental and knowledgeable lyrical content.
