Vidya Balan is all set to make her short film debut in a project titled “Natkhat”.
The actor is also serving as producer for the piece.
“Natkhat” will address issues such as patriarchy, gender inequality, rape culture and domestic abuse, among other things.
Vidya said the subject matter is what drew her to the project: “It’s the beautiful and powerful story that called out to me in a way that made me want to act in it and also turn producer.”
Natkhat is written by Annukampa Harsh and Shaan Vyas.
Shaan Vyas also serves as director.
Vidya Balan’s next feature length movie is called “Mission Mangal” which also stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi and Sonakshi Sinha.
It is loosely based on the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation, who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition.
That movie is due to hit theatres on August 15th.
