Sanjay Dutt says he has no intention of becoming involved in politics at this time.
The actor was forced to issue this statement, following claims that he was set to join Maharashtra’s ruling coalition partner Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP).
The claim came from chief and state Minister Mahadev Jankar.
According to reports, Dutt said “I will not be joining any political party. Mr. Jankar is a dear friend and brother of mine and I humbly wish him good luck for his future endeavours”.
The actor has dabbled in politics before, albeit briefly.
He was chosen to contest the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, but ended up withdrawing his candidacy.
He has also been quoted in the past as saying “I am not a politician but I belong to a political family.”
