R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for using his superstardom to subject young fans to systematic sexual abuse.

The 55-year-old singer and songwriter was sentenced today, after being convicted at a trial last year for racketeering and sex trafficking.

Jurors at that six-week trial heard how he trafficked women between different US states, assisted by managers, security guards and other entourage members, over two decades.

According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly imposed the sentence after hearing from several survivors who attested to how Kelly’s exploitation reverberated across their lives.

Kelly did not address the court.
