Colombian singer J Balvin, known for songs like Mi Gente, is now recovering from COVID-19.
The reggaeton star revealed that he contracted the virus and is warning fans to take the pandemic seriously.
Speaking during a recorded video message while accepting a Premios Juventud award for his “Rojo” music video, Balvin said, “These have been very difficult days, very complicated. Sometimes we won’t think that we’ll get it, but I got it and I got it bad.”
He also urged his supporters not to take the virus for a joke saying it “is real and it’s dangerous”.
Balvin’s song Mi Gente, sung alongside Willy William, has surpassed one billion views on YouTube and his collaboration with Cardi B and Bad Bunny, “I Like It”, was nominated for the 2019 Grammy Award for Record of the Year (the award was won by This Is America by Childish Gambino).
