GoT wins Best Drama at 2019 Emmys

The series ending back in May was controversial, but “Game of Thrones” apparently impressed enough to take home Best Drama Series at he 2019 Emmy Awards.

The win means GoT now ties the Awards record for the most Best Drama wins – its now won the award four times, along with “Mad Men”, “Hill Street Blues”, “L.A. Law”, and “The West Wing”.

The show went into the night with a total of 32 total nominations, setting a new record for the most nominations earned in a single year by a drama series.

It won 12 awards in total, including the top honour and Best Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage in his role as Tyrion Lannister.

“Fleabag”, a BBC sitcom written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, won Best Comedy Series, becoming the first British show to do so.
