Fans want posthumous awards for Kishore Kumar

Over 2,000 postcards have reportedly been sent to India’s Prime Minister’s Office seeking awards for legendary singer Kishore Kumar.

The Kishore Prerna Manch was set up to carry on the singer’s memory after his death in 1987.

The organization wants Kumar to be awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously and for his ancestral home in Khandwa to be declared a heritage site.

The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India.

The group’s President Ranveer Singh Chawal says there have similar requests by groups in other parts of India including Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
