Calypsonian David Rudder has received the Order of the Caribbean Community – the region’s highest honour.
A ceremony to do so took place yesterday afternoon at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s.
The decision to award Mr Rudder was taken by CARICOM Heads of Government at the 43rd CARICOM Heads of Government Conference in Suriname in July 2022.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry says the Calypsonian was unavailable to attend that event, so government and the CARICOM Secretariat organized yesterday’s special award.
David Rudder has released several hit songs during his illustrious career such as The Hammer, Trini to d Bone, High Mas, The Ganges and the Nile and Rally Round The West Indies just to name a few.
The OCC is awarded by Caricom to Caribbean nationals who have a phenomenal legacy in economic, political, social and cultural metamorphoses of Caribbean society.
