Education Minister hits back at textbook criticism

Education Minister Anthony Garcia has hit back at criticism from a media veteran regarding a history textbook launched several months ago by the Government.

The scathing commentary piece by Andy Johnson allegedly referred to Foundation Readings on the History of Trinidad and Tobago as a “blighted history textbook” and a “garbled, meaningless mess”.

In a release issued today, Mr Garcia accused Mr Johnson of failing to review the book before preparing his commentary.

He also insisted that the Ministry collaborated with a Cabinet-appointed Committee and an editor of reputable standing to ensure the accuracy.
