The Elections and Boundaries Commission says Phillip Alexander’s candidacy for the PEP for the Diego Martin North/East constituency is valid, contrary to a fake document that is being shared online.
The EBC says it received a report from Mr Alexander that “persons from a political party attempting to influence electors to not vote for him.”
The false document in question bears the EBC logo, and claims that Mr Alexander is not a candidate in the Election.
In a release issued today, the EBC reminds that Section 64 (3)(a) of the Representation of the People Act, Chap. 2:01, states that no person shall interfere with or attempt to interfere with an elector when he is voting.
The EBC is also urging the electorate to observe and comply with the rules on Poll Day.
