The Elections and Boundaries Commission says there were no reported incidents this Nomination Day, for both the upcoming THA polls and Local Government bye-Elections.
Prospective candidates yesterday presented themselves at their respective offices to file nominations papers for the January 25th polls.
When the offices closed at 3pm, the EBC says 28 candidates had filed nomination papers in Tobago.
The Progressive Democratic Patriots and the People’s National Movement fielded candidates in all twelve electoral districts.
There were two Independent candidates, as well as one candidate each from the Class Action Reform Movement and the Unity of the People parties.
Meanwhile, in Trinidad, the EBC says 13 candidates filed nomination papers in the 5 electoral districts up for contest.
Only the PNM and UNC have candidates in all five and while no other political parties have fielded candidates, three independents presented themselves.
