A 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the south-western tip of Trinidad last night.
The quake occurred at 10:35pm, and was reportedly felt in parts of the North West and South West Trinidad.
However the UWI Seismic Research Centre initially posted an update on Facebook, placing the epicentre off the coast of Grenada.
The SRC has since stated that a technical error resulted in an incorrect auto-solution being provided.
It also reminded that the auto-solution is based on preliminary data and is calculated rapidly using the data available within three minutes of the earthquake occurring.
Its revised solution placed the epicentre about 64.2km South South-East of Güiria, Venezuela, and about 84.8km West South-West of San Fernando.
