PSA President Watson Duke has been granted $250,000 bail, after appearing in court today on a sedition charge.

When Mr Duke appeared before Port of Spain Magistrate Asia Mohammed, he was not called upon to plead since the charge was indictable.

He will next appear in court on December 13th.

According to a statement from the PSA, immediately after his court appearance, Mr Duke was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, since he had discharged himself against medical advice earlier today.

The comment in question was made by Mr Duke on November 16th last year, at the TSTT Compound along Edward Street in Port of Spain.

Some media reports quote Mr Duke as saying:

“This is your belief folks, this is your family and I am sending the message clear, let Rowley them know that the day they come for us in WASA, we are prepared to die and the morgue would be picking up people”.

Sedition is defined as conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.
