Duke: Gov’t to impose higher penalties on public officials for money laundering offence

    0

PSA President Watson Duke claims that Gov’t will on Monday take a bill to Parliament in an attempt to impose higher penalties on public officers for failing to disclose knowledge about money laundering.

He says it will be part of the Miscellaneous Provisions Bill to seek to amend three acts; proceeds of crime act, anti terrorism act, and financial intelligence unit.

Mr Duke says he is concerned about the 2nd clause.

And while Mr Duke says he is against money laundering, he believes the penalty is overwhelming for public officials.
