DUI charge as prisons officer hits police vehicle


    A 40-year-old prisons officer was charged for drunk driving after colliding with a police vehicle last night.

    According to the TTPS, members of the Northern Division were tailing a black pick-up heading east along the Eastern Main Road.

    They requested assistance and an Eastern Division Emergency Response Patrol responded.

    While heading west along the Eastern Main Road, the officers saw the pickup swerving from side to side and it eventually collided with the police vehicle near LP#1029, and ran off the roadway.

    All persons involved in the collision were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical attention.

    The driver of the pickup tested at 101 micrograms, which is 66 micrograms over the legal limit.

    He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
