Epidemiologist Dr Avery Hinds says T&T is managing its supply of vaccines to ensure second doses are available when needed.
He was today asked to comment on a BBC report which quoted the WHO as saying that a large number of “poorer countries” do not have enough doses to continue their programmes.
T&T was also listed alongside countries such as Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, as among those that have “reported running out of vaccines in recent days.”
Dr Hinds questioned the criteria used to make that determination, adding that doses are being carefully managed.
Dr Hinds also commented on concerns that have arisen following the reported confirmation of a 2nd case of a vaccine-related blood clot in T&T.
According to the Trinidad Guardian, the Chief Medical Officer said that treatment was administered and that the female patient was recovering.
