Dr Alvin Hilaire will serve another three years as Central Bank Governor, with his second term starting on December 23rd 2020.
This was confirmed by Finance Minister Colm Imbert as he refuted a claim that government was preparing to appoint retired permanent secretary Vishnu Dhanpaul as governor.
He says cabinet has already agreed to have Dr Hilaire continue in this role.
Meanwhile, UWI lecturer Dr Dorian Noel has been appointed Deputy Governor while two more deputies will be announced in next couple months.
Mr Imbert says all three of those persons could be considered for promotion or government may look elsewhere to replace Dr Hilaire at the end of his term.
