Dorian moving past the Windward Islands, heading to Puerto Rico

    Puerto Rico is now bracing for Tropical Storm Dorian, which could become a hurricane by the time it reaches the island tomorrow.

    Dorian is passed over the Windward Islands today, bringing strong, gusty winds and occasional heavy rainfall.

    According to reports, over 2 inches of rain has been reported in Martinique thus far, while a peak wind gust of 55 mph was reported at the Barbados airport overnight.

    The Windward Islands can expect continued tropical storm conditions this evening, with substantial improvement by Wednesday.

    Maximum sustained winds for Dorian remain near 85 km/h, with slow strengthening forecast during the next 24 hours.

    Some weakening is expected as it moves across Puerto Rico tomorrow night, however it is forecast to gradually re-strengthen on Thursday and Friday while passing near  the Turks and Caicos Islands and southeastern Bahamas.
