Dengue outbreak declared in Jamaica


    Jamaica’s Health Minister Dr Clifton Tufton has declared a Dengue outbreak on the island.

    According to Caribbean News Service, the announcement came during an emergency media conference.

    Dr Tufton said there had been 123 suspected, presumed and confirmed cases in December 2018.

    That number surpasses the outbreak threshold, which is 96.

    He also revealed that out of seven suspected dengue-related deaths in 2018, two have been confirmed.
