The Tacarigua Presbyterian Primary School has been closed, after one of its Standard 5 students was found to be a contact of the most recent confirmed COVID-19 case.
This was revealed today by Dr Naresh Nandram Principal Medical Officer of Health during this morning’s Health Briefing.
He says contact tracing for students and their families is now underway.
Dr Nandram says patient # 148 was also out and about, despite having symptoms for six days before seeking medical treatment and testing.
The individual he adds, was a delivery driver, who was actively moving about.
This is the second time a school was forced to close in the past few days – the Maraval RC Primary School was also shut down recently after one of its students tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
Meanwhile Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says more information is needed on the recent spate of local cases before they can be classified as a second wave.
Health officials have not yet the determined how the recent local cases contracted the virus.
