UNC MP David Lee has been arrested and charged.
According to media reports, the charges are misbehavior in public office and conspiracy to defraud.
While there has been no word from the TTPS on the matter through its official channels, reports indicate that he has been granted bail.
The T&T Guardian reported that the Opposition MP plans to speak more on the matter over the weekend.
It is said that the charges stem from the purchase and sale of a Mercedes Benz.
The UNC has since responded, saying it stands firmly in support the MP which is believes is innocent.
It assures that Mr Lee will be vindicated in the courts.
