CXC’s Council has voted in favour of a 50% wavier of the review fees for the 2020 CSEC and CAPE exams.
This follows a request made on October 19th during a meeting between the regional exam body and Education Ministers from various Caribbean countries.
According to T&T’s Ministry, as of October 27th the number of requests for reviews from local students stands at: for 2,352 for CSEC and 3,325 for CAPE.
The Ministry says it has written to CXC asking it to honour q commitment made to review school-level concerns without the need for students to apply individually, and without cost.
The entire list of school-level concerns received at the Ministry was resubmitted for urgent attention.
CXC has reportedly committed to:
- Remarking reviewed scripts- not simply re-tallying
- Abandoning the possibility of grade diminution
- A reduction in the review fee to $15 US
- Expeditious turn-around time for reviews
Students who are in the process of making individual requests for review of their CXC examination grades for 2020, based on the deadline of November 6th, are advised to continue using the stipulated process for doing so.
