A UK-based criminologist is attempting to clear the air after allegedly being misquoted by a local newspaper.
Dr. Simon Cottee was reported as calling for mothers who return from Syria and Iraq to be charged with trafficking of their children.
However, according to a release by the Islamic Front, who claims to have interviewed Dr. Cottee, the criminologist did not suggest the women be jailed.
It says what the criminologist actually called for was the investigation of these mothers who knowingly took their children into warzones.
The Front agrees and believes there must be mechanisms in place after repatriation to reveal the women’s intentions and what prompted them to leave.
