COVID-19 vaccination in T&T remains voluntary

T&T’s COVID-19 vaccination policy remains voluntary; however the Health Minister says efforts will continue to encourage people to get the shot.

During today’s Health Briefing, Mr. Terrence Deyalsingh reminded that T&T is in the grip of a 3rd wave of infections.

But, despite the recent increase in infections and deaths, he says the policy remains “basically the same” moving forward.

He adds however that the various RHAs have been proactive in different communities.

The Minister also responded to a question about persons being treatment for COVID-19 at home, by private institutions.

He says while private hospitals can treat persons for the virus, at-home treatment is not recommended.

Mr. Deyalsingh also announced that the Emergency Operations Centres at the various RHAs will be managed by the Health Ministry.
