Following yesterday’s floods, Councillor for Reform/Manahambre, Chris Hosein is calling for government to respond to distressed residents.

He says the impact in his district was the worst to date but notes that this is now expected every time there are signs of rain.

The councillor believes the state has been “inactive”, claiming they have not cleaned watercourses nor reached out to affected families.

Furthermore, Mr Hosein says some flood victims are still awaiting relief grants since 2017 and is urging government to “have a heart for the people affected.”
