Concerns raised at town hall meeting after businessman’s murder

Residents of Central Trinidad have laid their concerns at the feet of police after the shooting death of businessman Darryl Dindial.

Mr Dindial was murdered outside his business in Montrose last week, prompting the hosting of town hall meeting last night.

Among the issues raised was the alleged poor response to the incident by police.

Speaking at the meeting, Central Division Senior Superintendent Curt Simon said there was “significant response” by officers.

However, businessman Adam Hosein insisted it was nearby civilians that rushed to try and help the bleeding victim.

Other issues raised last night included a non-functioning landline at the Longdenville Police Post – Mr Simon said police have been trying to address this with the service provider.

He also assured that police in Central are responding to the issues facing the Division and leaving the realm of traditional policing.
