Commissioner gives directive to ticket policeman for not using mask

A police officer will be ticketed for not wearing a face mask in public following a directive from the Police Commissioner.

In a media release sent this afternoon, Mr Gary Griffith says the officer works at the Port of Spain CID and was on duty in downtown Port of Spain today.

He was not wearing a mask – for which he will be penalized – and was brandishing his “sophisticated weapon” without wearing the police insignia.

On the 2nd issue, the Police Commissioner has asked for a report.

Regarding the wider adherence to regulations, Mr Griffith warns that he will be intensifying enforcement, especially at Maracas beach.

He notes that persons are coming out of the water and sitting on the shore without wearing masks.
