Cocorite man charged with beating, robbing ex-girlfriend


    A Cocorite man has been arrested for assaulting and robbing his former girlfriend.

    The 33-year-old was detained yesterday, after the incident.

    The accused is said to have blocked the road in the vicinity of Long Circular Mall, St. James, preventing the passage of a taxi in which his ex-girlfriend was travelling.

    He then opened the door of the taxi, physically assaulted the woman, and took her mobile phone, handbag and a quantity of cash.

    He has since been charged with robbery with violence.

    The Gender Based Violence Unit has since reached out to the victim.
