Coast Guard among five arrested for drunk driving

    A member of the T&T Coast Guard was one of five persons arrested for a DUI offence on Friday night.

    The five were taken into custody and charged during a police exercise in the Port of Spain Division between 9pm and 1am around the Queen’s Park Savannah.

    The 31 year old Coast Guard who is said to be from Diego Martin told police he was out liming when he was caught with a blood alcohol level of 102 microgrammes of alcohol on his breath.

    The legal limit is 35.

    All five suspects were taken to the Belmont Police Station where they were each administered a second breath test and failed.

    They are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate tomorrow.
