CMO: State quarantine for repatriates needs revision in light of new COVID strain

    Discussions will be held on increasing the length of state quarantine for persons arriving in T&T from countries affected by the new, more infectious strain of coronavirus, according to the CMO.

    Dr Roshan Parasram, speaking to a Joint Select Committee of Parliament today, noted that the strain is approximately 50% more transmissible.

    He also noted that the strain is now being found in several more countries following its discovery in England.

    The decision to increase the length of quarantine for persons returning from the UK was announced on December 21st 2020.
