There are eight paediatric cases of COVID-19 in the parallel health system, one of which is critical.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roshan Parasram, revealed this during today’s Health Ministry briefing, as he outlined a slight uptick in the number of paediatric COVID cases in T&T.
According to the CMO, seven out of the eight are below the age of 12, while one is between 12 and 18 years.
Dr Parasram also pointed to recent increases in paediatric cases in the US and elsewhere due to surges in the Omicron Variant.
He said Omicron currently accounts for about 25% of the Variants of Concern detected in T&T, and warned that it could soon become the dominant variant.
