Citizens urged to clean up after long weekend leisure activities

Persons going to beaches, hiking trails and other nature attractions over the holiday weekend are being urged to clean up their garbage when leaving.

The Planning Ministry says a clean-up exercise was conducted last month on a beach near Carenage’s fishing facility and 1,399 pounds of litter, mostly plastic bottles, were picked up in about three hours.

In an email it notes that a similar case was discovered on Chacachacare Island about two weeks ago.

The Ministry is calling on all citizens to properly dispose of waste, recycle and leave these natural features better than they were found.
