Children’s Authority urges against child abandonment

The baby found in Freeport bushes yesterday has been taken to a safe place according to the Children’s Authority which says that child abandonment should never be an option.

In a media release, the authority assures that the child is getting medical attention and it will be monitoring the case in the baby’s best interest.

It believes yesterday’s incident is reminder that many children are not receiving the best possible care and protection at home.

Persons who are experiencing challenges in caring for their children are urged to reach out to trusted family members or friends or the authority, police, ChildLine or the Social Development Minister.

It reminds that child abandonment is an offence and that there are other options such as foster care or adoption.
