Centre to cater for suspended Tobago students

Students who have been suspended from schools in Tobago will next week be placed in a Learning Enrichment Centre until they are eligible to return.

THA Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles says the centre will provide support also for students who have committed multiple offences and those in danger of being expelled.

He says in the past when students were suspended from school, they had nowhere to go and left at home unsupervised and unoccupied.

The centre, he says, is a safe place for them where they will be provided with relevant activities for their rehabilitation and social service support, to facilitate a smooth re-entry to the classroom.
