Cascade man charged with 2016 murder of 6-year-old girl


    A 25-year-old Cascade man has been charged with the murder of six-year-old Parris Griffith and the attempted murder of her mother, Akeila Schelborn.

    The little girl died and her mother was seriously wounded after their house at Straker Village, Laventille was set on fire on August 20th 2016.

    They had been asleep at the time.

    Three persons have already been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

    Further investigations have now led to charges against this fourth suspect.

    Officers involved in the investigation were ACP Odette Lewis, Snr. Supt. Chandool, Supt. Corbette, Insp. Alleyne, Cpl Narine, along with other officers.

    They were assisted by PCs Huggins, Sealey, Rodriguez and Foster of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations’ Cold Case Unit.
