Governments are being urged to invest in mental health which CARPHA says has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agency, ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow, says the pandemic has impacted those with and without existing mental health illnesses.
It believes persons with mental disorders still face stigma and discrimination, limitation of human rights, abuse, neglect and inadequate access to community-based treatment, care and support.
CARPHA also reminds that the World Federation of Mental Health has placed good mental health front and centre of the response to COVID-19.
It is also calling on persons to remain calm during the pandemic and to seek help if unable to cope.
