Caribbean politician denies allegations in UK publication

Former Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr. Denzil Douglas says a story published in the UK’s Daily Mail claiming he was being investigated by British authorities is false.

The article claimed that 70,000 pounds sterling was seized by authorities from his possession as he was leaving the UK at the Gatwick Airport on November 16th.

However, Nation News online reported that Dr. Douglas stated “Let it be known that I again emphasise that I was never detained or arrested at London Gatwick Airport on 16th November or at any other time. I have committed no crime and I’m under no investigation”.

The politician says the claim is totally false, mailicious and libellous.

The Nation News report quoted him saying “The article in question is receiving the attention of my lawyers who will advise me accordingly.”
