80 citizens attending UWI will benefit from financing amounting to two million dollars, from Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited.

According to UWI, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed on July 29th for the establishment of a CGCL Scholarship and Bursaries Fund.

The agreement covers the period 2019-2024, and includes the award of 50 bursaries valued at $5,000 each, and 30 continuous scholarships valued at $20,000 each.

These will support programmes and research across UWI’s eight faculties.

The award of these meanwhile will be based on academic merit, financial need and/or extra-curricular activities.

Also prior to this MoA, CGCL provided TT$50,000.00 to undergraduate students from La Brea and environs for the 2018/2019 Academic Year.

UWI says those scholarships and bursaries will be offered to new and continuing undergraduate students from CGCL’s fence line communities such as La Brea, Sobo Village, Rousillac, Vance River, Vessigny Village and Union Village.
