CAL plane could cost $1m USD to fix

It could cost about one million US dollars to fix the Caribbean Airlines plane that crashed into a wall at the Piarco International Airport.

According to Finance Minister Colm Imbert that figure is a very early preliminary estimate, and he has also assured that CAL does have insurance.

The accident happened around 11:15pm yesterday, as the ATR-72 aircraft was being taxied from the ramp at the airport, to a hangar.

CAL says there were no passengers or crew on board as the craft was not in active service at the time.

There were also no injuries to any personnel.

Mr Imbert spoke on the incident today during the post-cabinet briefing.

The aircraft is expected to be out of service for about three months.

An investigation into the incident is also underway.
