Approval has been granted for the provision of a subvention to Lake Asphalt T&T to assist in paying its expenses, including salaries.
This is according to the Energy Ministry which says it has communicated with the Finance Ministry to prioritise the payment.
It says this is the second intervention by government in 2021 and it is looking at how the company can become self-sustainable.
The Ministry says Minister Stuart Young intends to approach Cabinet shortly with proposals along these lines.
Only today, workers of Lake Asphalt prayed on their knees as they sought to highlight their plight.
