A 57-year-old businessman was granted $50,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace for the unlawful possession of manhole covers.
Between 4pm and 6:25pm on Saturday, officers went to George Street, Port of Spain where they searched a two-storey house.
They allegedly found a large quantity of copper and five manhole covers which were reported stolen by the Port of Spain City Corporation.
The owner of the property, Vejai Ramlackhan, was subsequently charged with receiving stolen items and unlawful possession.
He is due to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on July 12th.
