Brothers in court after chase, shootout with police

A 20 year old man has appeared in court alongside his brother, after surrendering to police in the wake of a high speed chase.

Around 12:55am on Friday, police attempted to intercept a silver car with two men, believed to be carrying guns and ammunition.

A high speed chase ensued along the Southern Main Road, from Hassarath Road in Cunupia to Chaguanas.

During this time, the suspects reportedly evaded a road block and opened fire on officers near Homeland Gardens.

They eventually crashed along Dass Trace, Enterprise, where there was another exchange of gunfire with officers.

The driver managed to escape, while the other suspect was held after being hit in the leg.

Around 2pm that same day however, the driver turned himself in to police, and has since appeared in court with the other suspect.
