Following reports of several COVID-19 cases at oil and gas company, Perenco, the CMO is being urged to launch an investigation.
In a letter to Dr Roshan Parasram, BIGWU Acting President Mario Als is calling for a probe into whether the company had met required health and safety standards.
His correspondence comes days after reports that 35 employees tested positive for the virus on the offshore platforms.
Mr Als claims the company has only responded by saying they have been following Ministry of Health guidelines but he believes it does not allay the fears of workers and their families.
Workers are concerned that has been no information on contact tracing and they also worry about sanitisation and social distancing.
