BIGWU reiterates call for government to investigate Perenco following COVID cases

BIGWU believes government has not addressed its call for an investigation into the Perenco’s adherence to COVID-19 regulations.

The state, through CMO Dr Roshan Parasram, replied to the union’s call to intervene stating that it is working with stakeholders following an outbreak of cases on two platforms.

However, in a response letter to the CMO, BIGWU Acting President, Mario Als, is reiterating his call for a government probe.

He says they must ascertain whether the oil and gas company observed the regulations before the outbreak of the virus on its platform.

Mr Als also wants the findings of any investigation to be made public in the interest of transparency and ensuring that there is no recurrence of the outbreak.
