Betting shops under the Bookmakers Association will be allowed to reopen to vaccinated persons, under the proposed “safe zone” initiative.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said that “safe zones” could be in operation in October, to encourage vaccinated persons to participate in certain activities.

At that time, he listed in gyms, restaurants, in-house dining, cinemas, casinos and even bars.

During today’s Health Ministry briefing, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh added betting shops to the list.

He emphasized as well that the vaccination of workers in these betting shops would be a key factor.
